Programs:
(Check the website for your speaker assignment date.)
LAST WEEK:
Human & Spiritual Values meeting along with honoring the Student of the
Month from Creekside: Erika Baca.
THIS WEEK:
My list reflects that Wayne Howell has
the assignment, but I seem to recall that he traded with Matt McLellan.
NEXT WEEK:
No meeting for the next two weeks. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
50/50 DRAWING WINNERS: According to Tim,
the winner last week was Charlie Stevens
who won the large, taxable amount, of $28. Make sure that gets reported. Of
course, you can deduct the amount you have spent to win that, so it’s probably
a wash. Mix those tickets real good, and make sure mine is on top.
NEWS OF NOTE:
I was called by the
fundraising arm of Special Olympics. Their games will be in February and March.
The cost is $145 per athlete. I told her I would bring it up at the meeting
today. Her name was Dawn Howell at
800-755-4320, x-2900. I’ll this in until the next issue in 2009. If you have
done something with this, let me know.
This
from Chief Hedges: Do any members
want to volunteer for Beach Blast Off (New Years Eve Fireworks & Chili Cook
Off at the Pier). Shifts are 3p-6p, 6p-9p, or 3p-9p at various locations and
you get a free T shirt. All proceeds are going toward the
Skeeter’s new project in early 2009 is: HATS AND HUGS. I’ve had
it in the newsletter for the last two issues, and I’m still not sure what we
are to do. I missed last week, and perhaps Skeeter explained it. I really
don’t understand hugging a baseball cap.
The
Heisman Trophy has been awarded, and Tebow came in
third. He only won the South and no other sections of the country. I also found
the article dealing with the draft fascinating. It said, basically, “He may be
one of the top 5 players ever in college football, but he won’t go high in the
pro draft.” I don’t know, if enough QBs who run the spread offense get into the pros maybe that
will change.
Did
you watch the ESPN special on the Greatest Game Ever Played? I remember
watching it and that was the game that made me a Colts fan. My loyalty shifted
